2012

I just made this just now...

Having a think about best of 2012.  No surprises in naming Bronson and Sean Price (I've listened to that album shitloads; I'm not just saying this for the sake of it James). As JR said, Statik has had a good year.

Although, checking it seems Well Done came out end of 2011, and not early 2012 as I thought. Anyway - it's telling that of the albums he did with him and Alchemist I actually prefer Well Done to Rare Chandeliers - because Chandeliers is still great and Alchemist is great too, except when he's doing that Gangrene rubbish.

Gangrene - consistently disappointing output from two producers I really like individually. I have listened to Oh No's instrumental albums quite a lot this year.

I have listened to that Ghostfunk mixtape shitloads this year - I still love that even though I totally rinsed it.

The cd I bought from that Finnish band I saw at the jazz festival is awesome - probably my other most listened to album. They're not anywhere online though, otherwise I would link to them. Other good jazz I discovered this year includes Okay Temiz - really good Turkish jazz I found when I went over to Istanbul. He is old and pretty famous so his stuff is out there online. Oh, and that Rahsaan Roland Kirk, but I have put a track of his up here a few months ago.

Fuck. It's really hard to identify stuff that came out this year. I have listened to a lot of Prodigy and Mobb Deep this year - of that which was new was that HNIC3 mixtape. This was over-long and patchy but had some great tracks on it. (including, actually, a Gangrene track with Prodigy on it, that was one of the few decent tracks on the Gangrene album)

The new Santigold album is quite good, but for some reason I haven't listened to it loads. I played a fair bit when I first got it and kinda forgot about it. I need to rectify that.

Oh fuck!! Forgot about this for this year.. haven't listened to it yet even:
