The Sound Providers

Are these guys famous? I hadn't heard of them. Nice beats an Rappin'

This tune has a nice skate video to go with it, does it sample that paint it black cover Ak posted?

Further Evidence

Also that Samiyan tune is amazing, the Evidence tune is great (Preemo looks like shit though... getting old!) it's from a good album, Cats And Dogs.  My favourite tune is probably this...

Red Carpet

Shyhiem Shaolin Style ft Method Man

This is great, I didn't know about the kid, one of the usually dissappointing Wu proteges, probably the best young Rapper I have ever heard, classic era Wu beat too.

Here's his first single when his balls haven't dropped;

Pillowfight

Here is a track from that other Dan the Automator album from this year that I mentioned on Neverland

Johnny Harris - Paint It Black

Here's a fantastic cover

Hear Ye Him!

Link to full album playlist on Youtube

I have just bought the album on Amazon so will be checking it out in due course. I listened to a  couple tracks and I liked what I heard... definitely more so that My Name is My Name.... I listenned to a couple tracks of that and thought "this sucks.. I wonder if No Malice's album is out yet?"

I have heard sooo little new music recently though. It's tragic. I really want some new shit to listen to. Have just copped the new Arctic Monkeys as well because the single was tremendous. We'll see what that's like...

Edan Radio (shit) show

Edan does a spectacular job of making it difficult to be a fan of his, apparently he has a radio show. There is a live show of his here too;

El Micheals Affair - Shouldn't there be a 38th chamber by now?

This band is amazing, as far as I can tell they just do Wu or Isaac Hayes covers, they have one album that is just Wu joints that is immense;

Jugganauts- Clear Blue skies

This is the dude from A Prince of Thieves, in his original group, apparently this album is an underground classic, love this beat, it makes me feel nostalgic for something I have never experienced.

What the fuck has happened to this place!

I totally wholeheartedly blame Akhil, pull you finger out of your arsehole you cunt, this is the only form of communication you've bothered to keep up! It's hard enough being so far apart and this place is a constant reminder of the musical bond we all shared, stop being a selfidsh lazy dick and post, no excuses.

This is awesome, from a show I have finally started to watch, breaking bad...episode 4. (Yes I know everyone has seen it all already!)

Letting Nas Down

I heard this the other day, the lyrics intrigued me so I looked into it, so First things first--J.Cole is a famous rapper apparently, who idolizes Nas. He heard Nas said his album was shit, and rather than calling him a dick and attempting to start a beef he released this okay song about being dissappointed he let Nas down;

I really like the horn based sample, and whole flavour of the song. Nas, impressed by this ego massage, released Made Nas Proud over the same beat, which unfortunately shows  how fucking great Nas is and highlights the massive gulf between this kid and Nasty. Still, this song is great and the original would be fine if Nas didn't accidently kill him on his own shit;

A cool example of respect, It's nice to see some good Karma.

Dooley - O I don't wanna lose you

Another forgotten classic!

RJD2- Dead Ringer

Just youtube surfed my way onto this, forgot how great it is. Fucking Tremendous.

Wu block

This Album is great, there is some filler but a lot of bangers, lots of Ghostdini.

This is great

Prodigy & Alchemist-Albert Einstein Full Album 2013

Family Atlantica - Escape To The Palenque (feat. Mulatu Astatke)

This is kinda cool... Has a bit of a soundtrack kinda vibe to it. I found them because they are on the Soundway label. These are the guys who unearth a lot of great African shit from the 60s, 70s and 80s and put together some really good compilations (a lot of that stuff is not on youtube at all...)

Edit: Youtube channel Wayhi Tapes -  some really cool shit. Lots of wierd and rare world music 45s. African / Chinese / Greek / whatever. I stumbled across it and am just digging around but found a couple gems already. Maybe a lot of this will be only of interest to me, but definitely some nice stuff in there y'all will like. E.g.

 Ummmm. This one is .. interesting.

Really like this beat not sure about the rapping. He also drinks one of those insanely sugary Snapples you had the other day Ak.

Joey Bada$$ - 95 Til Infinity

No 93 til

20 years of Wu

Don't know what I make of this but it is a 20 yr anniversary so for prosperity sake here it is

http://soundcloud.com/rosenbergradio/exclusive-new-wu-tang-family

I think it's shit actually, an I can't get the embedded player to work.
Still I love the Brown tape, my favourite Wu fam album since Pretty Tone

Edit.. Apparently there is a Daniel Bryan sample in here somewhere so I have changed my mind and I love it.
Edfit agan: On 2nd listen noticing DB it rules.

Triple Edit; here it is and it is great,

sEdit; AGAIN!

So I don't know if anyone is reading this, but anyway, this song does not contain Daniel Bryan, The radio host that plays this (as he mentions at the start of the youtube vid) doesn't know for sure if he should be playing it, so he plays some drops over it just incase. Apparently he is a bigtime wrestling fan and he puts The Daniel Bryan  drop over it,  so the original lacks Bryan, here it is;

It is much worse!

Jakk Frost and Peedi Crack Code of the streets

Despite what he says being utter shite (65% of kids now is gay) I love Peedi's mumbling flow, his delivery is the shit.

This could only be great

On DJ premier's show DJ finesse filled in on the anniversary of Biggies death and did a BIG over Preemo tribute, can't really fuck that up;

The 'one day' beat is so fucking good.

George Benson - Take Five 1975 /Carnegie Hall Concert

Hey James - which George Benson live album did you buy that time - was it this one?

Oh no

The track below is off new Oh No release, but I have just got around to listening to the ohnomite album from last year. I hadn't bothered with it after my disappointment with gangrene, but it's really good! Absolutely one for the 'slept on' list.

Edit - I love this beat off the album:

Kendrick Lamar - The Recipe ft. Dr. Dre

Jody - I got the Kendrick Lamar album a little while ago to check him out but I've really not listened to it much. IT seems OK, but nothing really wow. This song is nice, I guess.

They have done 5 albums?! Well, they have retired as a duo, here is another banger from thier final outing.

Action Bronson High School Yearbook photo

Joey Bada$$ - Unorthodox (Prod. by DJ Premier)

Nice one Jody. Will check those out properly shortly, and possibly respond to questions/comments. For now, here's Joey and Premo.

Jakk Frost Beard Gang initiation ft Malik B Nima AB

Man, I love this! Plus we can all join this gang! Well, maybe not James.

I think the picture is freeway for some reason (I guess he has a beard)

Buckshot and 9th Wonderfultunes - Shorty Left

No end of year list for me as I'm just discovering and catching up with the stuff I've slept on, I've posted 4 officially slept on by me tunes below. I will make the list soon. Here's the first

I've heard lots of good things about Rick Ross's album this year (God forgives, I don't) that has made him a lot of new fans, also Who is this Kendrick Jamal fella?
James, Loved that Breakfast club tune, it's tremendous!

Nas - Life Is Good

Well, this passed me by, or I ignored it, no longer excited by Nas albums. I noticed on almost every best of list this year. Every review said the same thing, can we stop holding everything Nas has done up to Illmatic and accept that the man can make some damn fine albums. I've heard this once and it seems very good. I've posted this tune, it's far from the best, but lyrically astounding and shows a Nas that, I think, is as comfortable with his persona as he has been since his early days, rapping eloquently and seemingly effortlessly about his own truth. Some good beats on this album too.

Apollo Brown + OC - Prove Me Wrong

Preemo + Bumpy Knuckles - B.A.P

2012

I just made this just now...

Having a think about best of 2012.  No surprises in naming Bronson and Sean Price (I've listened to that album shitloads; I'm not just saying this for the sake of it James). As JR said, Statik has had a good year.

Although, checking it seems Well Done came out end of 2011, and not early 2012 as I thought. Anyway - it's telling that of the albums he did with him and Alchemist I actually prefer Well Done to Rare Chandeliers - because Chandeliers is still great and Alchemist is great too, except when he's doing that Gangrene rubbish.

Gangrene - consistently disappointing output from two producers I really like individually. I have listened to Oh No's instrumental albums quite a lot this year.

I have listened to that Ghostfunk mixtape shitloads this year - I still love that even though I totally rinsed it.

The cd I bought from that Finnish band I saw at the jazz festival is awesome - probably my other most listened to album. They're not anywhere online though, otherwise I would link to them. Other good jazz I discovered this year includes Okay Temiz - really good Turkish jazz I found when I went over to Istanbul. He is old and pretty famous so his stuff is out there online. Oh, and that Rahsaan Roland Kirk, but I have put a track of his up here a few months ago.

Fuck. It's really hard to identify stuff that came out this year. I have listened to a lot of Prodigy and Mobb Deep this year - of that which was new was that HNIC3 mixtape. This was over-long and patchy but had some great tracks on it. (including, actually, a Gangrene track with Prodigy on it, that was one of the few decent tracks on the Gangrene album)

The new Santigold album is quite good, but for some reason I haven't listened to it loads. I played a fair bit when I first got it and kinda forgot about it. I need to rectify that.

Oh fuck!! Forgot about this for this year.. haven't listened to it yet even:

Best of 2012

Okay, a little late but Christbut is a busy period, so it's time for a little reflection. Best of 2012? song, video mixtape, rapper, producer and album. Also, any standout stuff. I usually use  hiphop site, but they have fallen off and don't do the lists anymore. It was them that originally had me DL a clipse album. I did read the review for the wu-block album;
http://www.hiphopsite.com/2013/01/03/wu-block-wu-block-12-review/
Haven't heard it myself yet.

Also Chi Ali is out the pen!

Happy new year.
