Rahsaan Roland Kirk - I Say A Little Prayer - Live 1969

This guy is great, pretty crazy dude. I've got a bunch of his albums. This is a live version of his version of Say a Little Prayer which is fantastic. Bassist is going pretty nuts as well.

He plays a lot of nose flute, but not in this song. Which is exactly what it sounds like - a flute shoved up his nose... It's usually what you're hearing when you hear that flute interchanged with odd guttural vocal melodies like in that Harold Alexander track you posted the other week Jody (you know, the one that's off Cut chemist Rare Quations).

That Young Rascals track is great btw. Have you listened to much else they've done? How is it? Worth checking out?

  1. That's the only song of theirs that I know. It's a tune that turns up on the occasional soul anthology and thats the extent of my knowledge on the subject! It is a cool track though, this tune by the way, is tremendous!!
