Ghostface Killah - How You Like Me Baby (Apollo Kids)

New Ghostface.... that's actually good! There's a bunch of tracks off the new album on there - I've checked out a few of them and it's sounding really good. Late entry to the 2010 albums lists possibly?!?

Christmas Rap!

Officer Ricky!

So, the other day I heard this song, thought it was a pretty brutal diss record, that called Rick Ross police. I looked it up and found a pretty entertaining Beef between two rappers I don’t really care about; 50 Cent and Rick Ross.
Rick was about to drop an album, he decided to tell the media he hated 50 cent because 50 cent looked at him funny at an awards ceremony. 50p took offense at being used to garner some publicity. He released a Youtube talking video (that's what the kids are calling them) , telling Rick Ross that he is the wrong person to cross and that now( a clearly reveling in the power he has) 50p says he will ‘fuck up your life for fun’. He then proceeded to do just that. He revealed that Rick used to be a Correctional Officer. He released a pretty mediocre diss record. (check out the 1st minute or 2)  Then he released an youtube talking video, interviewing one of ricky’s baby’s mommas. She said, Ross’s whole persona was fake and said he was indeed a correction officer. Rick denied this, but too much evidence appeared proving it and he finally had to admit it.
 50p said this in an interview,
"It never gets worse than this. You get a guy that was a correctional officer come out and base his entire career on writing material from a drug dealer's perspective

 Fiddy continued his assault on Ricks character with a pretty harsh diss record called Tia told me which is fucking tremendous. 50p really lets rip with his dulcet, soulful tones, the sample is real nice and he’s clearly delighting in tearing Ricky’s persona apart. And he says he fucked his baby's momma. But my favorite thing about this feud is that 50p has gone the playground route of dissing Rick.Repeating an almost inoffensive nickname a lot and in a stupid voice. And it’s really catchy. Officer Rickeey! Then shit gets really childish. He started to release homemade cartoons of  Officer Rickey!  That are actually funny, mostly for the relentless, humorless and childish insults thrown at Ricky. Also the fair and balanced way that Rick gets to defend himself.  Soon 50p’s yes men Lloyd banks and Tony Yeyo joined in with two more diss records. Mr Banks’s is forgettable, but Mr Yeyo’s track was the song I heard that started my interest in the whole feud, ‘Somebody Snitched’

Oh yeah, Rick Ross rebuttals were pretty shit, one video that   for some reason depicted 50p’s funeral and another record where he says he ended 50p’s career. Somehow.
Officer Rickeey!

Just found out something I didn't know about this feud;
"As we previously reported, 50 Cent will be releasing a porno video featuring Rick Ross baby mother Brooke today, now you can check out an exclusive preview of the video. Hosted by none other thank Pimpin Curly himself, the preview shows Brooke getting ready to shoot "Thats your bitch mayne" Pimpin Curly states."

Clips are shown of Brooke, the mother of Rick Ross child, performing oral sex and having sexual relation with an unidentified male, all on a brown leather couch. Brooke even has an "RR" tattoo on her chest "double R? Does that stand for Rick Ross? I think thats some cold-blooded sh*t mayne" Curly says.
This is my favourite beef ever!

Video can be seen here. (With 50p's commentry over it.) Obviously NSFW

Viva Necro!

Die!
Ah, I missed Necro. After mixing Deathmetal and Rap to the apathy of both Rap and Deathmetal fans, this is a return to form. Maybe more of a return to formula. Like most of his stuff there’s some crap, some medicorce and a bit of gold. There are some signs that he’s running out of material, especially the lame ass titles, ‘asBESTos’, ‘The Human Traffic King’ (Actually that one’s pretty good considering.) And the, what kind of pun is he going for ‘Kink Panther’ (!?) Kink panther is awesome though, and starts with my favourite porno skit/into I’ve heard in ages (since a different necro album i guess), the accents are amazing, It’s impossible to work out what country they are from, it’s just porno world.
For me ‘Set it’ and another (what is he aiming for?), pun title ‘The Thugstore Cowboy’ (The thugstore called,   They’re running out of me!) are highlights. My favourite track at the moment is ‘ViVa Necro’ Which has everything which is awesome about Necro encapsulated in it. The production/sample is amazing. The lyrics are equally funny and lame (‘Kick your ass like Zohan’ – Picturing a fat ass Necro, sat on his couch laughing to Zohan ruins his badass/evil pimp persona for me.) My favourite thing about this song, is that it just seems wrong that he is chanting ‘Viva Necro’ – I mean usually your minions or admirers do that for you. Other highlights are the ludicrous and self aggrandizing way he says ‘Nercooo!’ at the beginning of the track. Also the nothing actually wrong with it, but somehow intrinsically ridiculous line; ‘I walk with a BOP!’ makes me laugh every time.

DL album here;

NB,  Deleted the kid Joe skit ‘bedbugs’ why anyone would think that belongs on an album is beyond me.

PS I think a ‘Best of Necro’ would be a five star classic and a ‘Worst of Necro’ would be unlistenable shite. What tracks would you put on a Best of album of his...

DJ Eclipse

I've been listening to a lot of hip hoop radio shows thanks to mixcloud.com.  DJ eclipse has undoubtably been my favourite. He consistantly plays tunes I've never heard of and love (no track listings though frustratingly!) These half hour shows are great for sticking on your phone/mp3. I recommend this show, the 11th anniversary 2 parter, It has an amazing guest DJ do a tremendous breaks set. IT has an absolute knob of a DJ/prick called D-stroy who ios fucking annoying as all hell, otherwise really recommend checking these out.
Oh No & Alchemist have done a collabo album. I'm just d/l'ing it right now so I've no idea what it's like but I thought I'd stick the link in here whilst I had it open. I'm sure it'll be at least worth a couple spins!

Gangrene - Gutter Water

Kazi and Madlib

Love this beat, (madlib sampling OC's times up coincidently) this may have been on the stones throw 101, i've heard it before but I don't know where;

Big Mike; 'Playa, Playa'

Tremedous old school tune from Big mike, One time member of the Geto Boys maybe? Pretty sure he's from Texas anyway...

Kool g rap-first nigga (produced by dj premier)

Kool G Rap and Primo.

OC - Times Up

This track is awesome. I had heard it on mixtapes but didn't know what it was til recently.

The East Flatbush Project feat Des "Tried By 12"

I had heard this before but never knew what it was; only just found out yesterday. The beat has been used elsewhere since, and it's the track where the line "what they tryin ta get, I already got it" comes from that you will have heard cut up.

Carlton!!!

Cappadonna - 2 tracks from "The Pillage"

Cappadonna - Takes the whole Wu thing to new places. Same kind of loops, same themes but lyrically he really shines and sets himself apart. Some nice samples from cult kung fu flicks as standard.

The Pillage - The whole album is good. I can't find a torrent unfortunately. Great sound great flow. Sometimes I don't know what he's talking about but I'm a grammar school boy from Essex so I suppose that's good in a lot of ways.

Milk the Cow

Slang Editorial - Terrible video - Concentrate on his rhyming. Nobody else rhymes like that!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Yae9AlRsqk

After recording this album Cappadonna "intentionally gave up all of his material possessions and walked the streets of Baltimore for 8 months". Then he returned to the rap game and didn't quite match the Pillage. Baltimore is a dangerous place they say. . .

Interesting interview here. Didn't realise sites that looked this bad still existed:

Talkin' bout forgotten classics....

Deadmau5 & Wolfgang Gartner - Animal Rights

Not hip hop by any means, but I've been loving this track for a little while now - give it a go!

new kanye

This is the new Kanye video. It's like 35min long - somewhere between an album sampler and his version of Moonwalker. It's cool. The beat it starts with is the first track off the album - I think this beat sounds very Wu.

The album is tremendous. Really top notch. The production is fantastic throughout, some really good guest spots and Kanye is.. well, Kanye. I'm sure you already know not to expect to be blown away by his lyrical depth.

If you want me to provide a link for the album let me know (I'm at work now, but could upload a copy at home if need be).

Funny you should put that 97 Mentality track up - I hadn't heard that in forever, and looked it up at random last week.

That Pacewon / Mr Green album is really cool btw. Cheers for the hot tip!

Foegotten (by me) classic Wu. 97 Mentality. A lone gem off one of thier lame collabo albums

Pacewon and Mr Green

Discovered these dudes the other day. A rapper producer combo. Pacewon Is pretty unheard of (the poor fucker doesn't even have a Wikipedia page. Which makes him less famous than this cat with a pedophiles name)
Anyway he was apparently in 'The Outsidaz' Who debut on The Fugees single 'Cowboy'. After that they had something to do with Emininem, going to be his crew of choice but Em pick D12 who became really famous while this group disbanded into no wikipedia page oblivion. Pacewon then released an album that bombed (but did feature 'I declare war' the song Sway parodied/covered on that mixtape recently. The sway version is much better though. (I love the flute loop, is it Madlib?)
So, this is the opening track from an album I'm really enjoying now, it came out in 08 I think, link to DL below;

Download their first album 'The only Colour that matters is Green'
Can't find the secon album 'The only number that matters is Won' anywhere. They need to work on their album titles.

EDIT: I hadn't actually watched this video before I posted it. It wins the worst crew member ever, for Pace's massive gutted buddy wearing  a wifebeater and a white, purple and pink shell suit top. I realise this video was made on a shoe string but someone really should have sent him home to change....

Official Video for 'What's up Fatlip'

Paul Flatlanding around Vung Tau.

Why don't embedded players work. this is a fail already. Ak help me out!

Hey. I started this because we don't have a place to post music links to each other. Post any youtube links of decent songs or videos as well as download links/mixcloud and other streaming stuff.  Try to post an introduction if it's someone we've never heard of. Invite anyone you like to join . Anyone who has a decent  taste in music. I imagine it will be mostly Hip Hop and Soul but let's try to make it as diverse as possible. I'll Start of with this it's a video my friend Paul made in Vung Tau. He's rides a BMX this is him and his friend riding what I think is called flatland BMXing.

This wouldn't embed so i've put the videos here in the posts above.

The song is awesome, I hadn't heard it before, it's 'What's up Fatlip?' by Fatlip. A single that he released after leaving Pharcyde. , the original video is one of my favourite Hip Hop videos. It's by Spike Jones.

and is here

Same here just look above for the video

He also made a 20 minute documentary of the same name about Fatlip's life. Despite having an almighty fall from grace (or maybe because of it) He comes across as extremely charismatic and pathetic dude. Well worth a watch here

Ak can you make this thing look cool and/or pretty? I'll come back to try and sort out this embedded failure later.
 EDIT, don't have a clue whats going on with this template. WTF? or why embedding is a ballache. Nothing is simple.
